Instagram influencer pricing in India does change by niche, but less than rate guides claim and only above about 10,000 followers. On live asking rates from 810 Indian creators on Qolab in November 2026, education and tech micro creators ask about 1.6 to 1.8 times what food creators ask per follower. Under 10,000 followers, almost every niche asks the same ₹1,150 a reel.
This post puts the four published niche premiums next to what creators actually list, niche by niche, so a brand can budget by category and a creator can see where their own niche sits.
How much does niche change an influencer's rate in India?
Every guide agrees the direction and disagrees the size. Kofluence's July 2026 tier guide says finance and tech command 30 to 50 percent premiums. upGrowth's 2026 pricing guide for India, updated in September 2026, says finance creators charge 60 to 120 percent more, partly because registration rules shrink the pool, and that beauty and lifestyle carry a 40 to 80 percent premium over fitness and gaming. Boss Wallah's August 2026 micro rates guide says finance and tech often earn two to three times a lifestyle or comedy creator.
Ticktime Media's May 2026 rate card names finance, tech, health, B2B, automotive and education as premium niches, with lifestyle, fashion, food and entertainment closer to the middle. None of the four publishes the sample behind its figure.
What do micro creators ask per reel, niche by niche?
Here are the live median reel asks for creators with 10,000 to 100,000 followers, for every niche with at least 10 creators. The per-1,000-followers column removes the effect of one niche simply having bigger accounts. Creators can list more than one niche, so they count under each.
- **Music** (16 creators): median reel ₹6,208, ₹291 per 1,000 followers.
- **Education** (32): ₹8,040, ₹258 per 1,000.
- **Tech** (33): ₹6,000, ₹232 per 1,000.
- **Entertainment** (62): ₹5,000, ₹224 per 1,000.
- **Art and craft** (10): ₹4,709, ₹213 per 1,000.
- **Travel** (58): ₹5,000, ₹207 per 1,000.
- **Business** (13): ₹5,121, ₹173 per 1,000.
- **Health and wellness** (22): ₹6,296, ₹170 per 1,000.
- **Fashion** (90): ₹4,281, ₹165 per 1,000.
- **Lifestyle** (115): ₹3,832, ₹162 per 1,000.
- **Fitness** (25): ₹5,000, ₹160 per 1,000.
- **Beauty** (76): ₹3,713, ₹149 per 1,000.
- **Food** (57): ₹2,376, ₹141 per 1,000.
- **Gaming** (11): ₹2,926, ₹140 per 1,000.
- **Comedy** (26): ₹3,382, ₹129 per 1,000.
Across all 273 micro creators the median is ₹3,976 a reel, about ₹162 per 1,000 followers. Small samples move easily, so read the music and art rows as direction, not a quote.
Do finance influencers really charge more?
Probably, but we cannot prove it yet. Only six finance creators with 10,000 to 100,000 followers synced on Qolab in the last 30 days. Their median ask is ₹9,555 a reel, above every niche in the list, but six is too few to publish as a benchmark. Business, the nearest niche with enough creators, sits only slightly above the overall median per follower.
The guides' explanation is plausible: finance audiences make large purchase decisions, and SEBI's rules on who regulated firms may work with keep the pool of eligible creators small. If you are pricing a finance campaign, our B2B influencer marketing guide shows the business and finance premium we can measure on a larger group.
Is beauty a premium niche?
Not on asking rates. upGrowth says beauty and lifestyle creators command 40 to 80 percent more than fitness and gaming. On Qolab, beauty micro creators ask ₹149 per 1,000 followers, fitness ₹160 and gaming ₹140. Beauty is busy, with the third-largest group of creators, and a crowded niche competes on price. For a brand that means choice: be selective on engagement and audience city rather than paying for the category.
Why do food creators ask the least?
Partly because many have never set their own rate. When a creator connects, Qolab gives them a starting rate, and small or new accounts often keep it. Among food micro creators, 17 of 57 were still at the ₹1,150 starting rate. Among tech creators it was 2 of 33, and among education creators 2 of 32.
Food also shows lower engagement on the marketplace: a median of 2.27 percent for food micro creators, against 7.83 percent for tech and 5.12 percent for education. A brand pays for attention, and the price follows it.
Does niche matter for nano influencers?
Barely. Of the 17 niches with at least 10 nano creators (1,000 to 10,000 followers), 16 have a median reel ask of exactly ₹1,150 and education sits at ₹1,168. Across all 463 nano creators, 264 are listed at the ₹1,150 starting rate. Our nano influencer rates guide breaks the band down by follower step.
Above 100,000 followers the niche gap narrows again. Food and tech creators in that band both ask a median of ₹20,621 a reel, though with only 11 and 15 creators, and that band stretches into the millions.
What should a brand budget by niche?
Start from the per-follower figure, not the headline median, because it adjusts for account size.
- **Education and tech:** about ₹5,800 to ₹6,500 a reel for a 25,000-follower creator, and plan on more for finance.
- **Fashion, lifestyle, fitness, travel:** about ₹4,000 to ₹5,200 at the same size.
- **Food, beauty, comedy, gaming:** about ₹3,200 to ₹3,700, with the widest choice of creators in food and beauty.
Ad rights, exclusivity and extra deliverables sit on top in every niche. For the full tier-by-tier picture, see what influencer marketing costs in India.
What should a creator charge in their niche?
First, check whether you are still on the starting rate. If you have 10,000 or more followers and still ask ₹1,150, you are pricing yourself below most creators in every niche on this list. Boss Wallah's rule of thumb, ₹100 to ₹400 per 1,000 average reel views depending on niche, is a useful second check, because views say more than followers.
Then price from your niche's per-follower figure and adjust for your own engagement. Our reel pricing guide for India walks through the full calculation.
If you are a creator, list your rate and niche on Qolab and brands can book you with payment held until you deliver; if you are a brand, sign up as a brand to search creators by niche, city and engagement, with each creator's rate shown when you make an offer.
