Overview

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act, currently operational) and its Rules, 2025, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data. Qolab honours this right with a simple, audited process: submit the form, we verify you're the account owner, we delete within 30 days.

This page also satisfies Meta's “User Data Deletion” disclosure requirement for apps using the Instagram Graph API.

What gets deleted

Your Qolab profile (name, contact, city, photo).
For creators: connected Instagram access token, cached insights (followers, reach, engagement), media snapshots, computed realness score, and suggested rates.
For brands / agencies: company profile, GST details, uploaded logo, saved campaign briefs.
Messages you sent — removed from your view. Messages you sent to another party remain visible in that party's own conversation history as their record of the exchange; they are removed when that party also deletes their account or the conversation, or after the retention window stated in our Privacy Policy.
Notification history.
Ratings / reviews you wrote — content stays, authorship anonymised.
Session cookies and auth tokens.

What we legally retain (and why)

Certain records must be retained under Indian law, even after you delete your account. These are moved to a restricted-access archive — no user can view them in the app — and permanently purged when the legal retention window ends.

Completed-booking records: 7 years. Required by the CGST Act 2017 (s. 35) and Income-tax Act 1961 recordkeeping rules. Includes transaction amounts, invoice copies, counterparty names. Personal details like avatar / chat history are not retained.
Dispute history: 3 years. For fraud prevention and in case authorities need to re-examine a past dispute.
Server logs: 90-day rolling retention. Purely for security-incident investigation. Automatically aged out.

Retained records are pseudonymised where the law allows — specifically, your name, phone, avatar, bio, and messages are replaced with a non-reversible identifier. What remains is the minimum set of fields required to evidence a transaction (invoice number, amounts, timestamps, counterparty reference).

Timeline

Standard deletion schedule — DPDP compliant

Day 0: You submit the form. Ticket ID issued immediately. Auto-reply with timeline sent to your email.
Day 1–5: We verify your identity (OTP to your registered email) and acknowledge the request. Target: 5 working days for initial response.
Day 5–30: Grace window. Your account is disabled (signed out, not visible in discovery) but not deleted. You can email us 'CANCEL <TicketID>' any time in this window to reverse.
Day 30: Complete, irreversible deletion from production systems of all non-legally-retained data. You'll receive a confirmation email.
Day 30–60: Backup systems rotate out residual copies per standard industry practice. By Day 60, you're fully removed from all recoverable storage.

This timeline meets the DPDP Rules, 2025 expectation of “reasonable time” for deletion. If we cannot meet the 30-day target because of a pending booking, dispute, or legal hold, we'll notify you before Day 30 with reasons and a revised estimate.

Instagram-only disconnection

If you want to disconnect Instagram but keep your Qolab account, use either:

Your Qolab profile settings → Disconnect Instagram, OR
Instagram → Settings → Apps and Websites → Authorised → remove Qolab.

Within 7 days we automatically:

Revoke the long-lived access token with Meta.
Purge all cached insights, media snapshots, audience demographics, and computed realness scores derived from your Instagram data.
Remove your creator profile from discovery.

Your Qolab account stays open. Reconnect a different Instagram any time.

Pre-launch waitlist deletion

If you joined the waitlist but haven't created a full Qolab account yet, choose “Waitlist entry only” as the scope in the form above, or email hello@qolab.in with subject “Remove me from waitlist”. We'll delete your waitlist row within 48 hours — no verification loop needed since waitlist entries contain no sensitive data.
