Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, and a creator campaign for it should be booked by mid-October, briefed by the third week of October, and posting from late October to 7 November. Expect creator rates 15 to 30 percent above normal in the peak weeks, and put most of the budget into many nano and micro creators.
That is the short answer. The rest of this post is the plan: why Diwali matters this much for creator campaigns, what happens to rates, a week-by-week timeline counted back from 8 November, and a ₹75,000 plan priced with the asking rates creators have set on Qolab today.
How big is Diwali for influencer marketing in India?
It is the single biggest creator moment of the year. Qoruz, a creator data platform, projects Indian festive influencer marketing spend at ₹900 crore in 2026, up 29 percent from ₹700 crore in 2025, with about 7,200 brands running creator campaigns this season, as reported by Storyboard18 in August 2026.
Diwali alone accounts for 49 percent of festive creator collaborations in the same Qoruz data. Navratri, Durga Puja and Dussehra together take 31 percent, and Ganesh Chaturthi 11 percent, according to Buzzincontent's report on the same numbers.
The spending is concentrated: the top 10 to 15 percent of brands account for about 65 percent of festive creator spend. That is useful for a small brand. The biggest spenders chase the same few famous faces, while thousands of smaller creators stay available at normal prices.
What happens to creator rates around Diwali?
They go up, and they go up most for the creators everyone wants. In a Social Samosa feature from August 2026, agency leaders put festive premiums at 15 to 30 percent for in-demand talent, with one saying rates rise 20 to 40 percent over a creator's regular card. Short video carried a 20 to 25 percent premium over static posts, and booking a top creator in the last two weeks before Diwali pushed prices higher still.
Kofluence's Sohail Qadri Khan, speaking to Marketing Mind in September 2026, gave a similar 15 to 30 percent range for rate cards inside the festive window. He added that usage rights, the right to run a creator's video as your own ad, add 60 to 120 percent over the base fee, and that about a third of festive creator budgets now go to paid amplification and usage rights.
Two practical consequences follow. Book early, because the premium grows as the date gets closer. And decide before you book whether you will boost the reels as ads, because usage rights negotiated afterwards cost more; our guide to usage rights and whitelisting covers what to agree and for how long.
Which creators should a Diwali campaign use?
Mostly nano (under 10,000 followers) and micro (10,000 to 50,000) creators. In Qoruz's 2025 data they made up 75 percent of festive creator participation, against 5 percent for mega creators and celebrities. The same Marketing Mind piece says micro and mid-tier creators are absorbing 60 to 70 percent of the extra money brands put into festive creators, because their engagement runs higher, 3.5 to 8 percent against 1.2 to 2 percent for mega creators in Kofluence's numbers.
Our own data points the same way. In our Instagram engagement rate benchmarks, the median creator under 10,000 followers on Qolab engages at about eight times the rate of creators above 250,000.
Look beyond the metros too. Qoruz puts Tier 2 and Tier 3 creators at 38 percent of festive activations. Diwali shopping is strong in smaller cities, and a creator from your buyer's own town is often more believable than a Mumbai name.
What is the Diwali 2026 timeline, week by week?
Count back from Sunday 8 November. Dhanteras is Friday 6 November, and Choti Diwali Saturday 7 November. Social Samosa's sources say the peak conversion window is the three or four days before the festival, which puts your selling posts roughly from 4 to 7 November.
Large brands started much earlier. Kofluence says festive briefs now arrive 10 to 12 weeks before the sale period, up from 4 to 6 weeks, with creator contracts closing 6 to 8 weeks before the peak. If you are reading this at the end of September, the celebrity and agency route is mostly booked. The nano and micro route is not.
- By 11 October: decide the goal (sales, store visits or awareness), set the budget, shortlist creators and book them. Popular creators fill their November calendars first.
- 12 to 18 October: send one clear brief per creator, with the product, the key message, the dates, the link and the disclosure rule. Our 11-point influencer brief is a template you can copy.
- 19 to 25 October: ship products and let creators use them. A reel made after a week with the product beats one made on delivery day.
- 26 October to 3 November: first wave of posts. Gift guides, first looks and "what I am buying this Diwali" content that builds interest.
- 4 to 7 November: the selling wave. Discount codes, last-day offers and "still time to order" posts, timed before Dhanteras and your delivery cut-off.
- 9 to 15 November: boost the two or three reels that performed best if you bought the rights, then count sales per creator.
Every paid post needs a clear label under the ASCI rules, festive or not. Put the disclosure in the brief so no creator posts without it; our guide to ASCI disclosure rules lists the exact labels.
What does a ₹75,000 Diwali creator plan look like?
Here is one plan, priced with the median reel rate creators have set on Qolab as of 30 September 2026, across creators with 1,000 or more followers whose accounts synced in the previous 30 days. These are asking prices on our platform, not a survey of the whole market.
If you want bigger names, the median asking reel rate on Qolab today is ₹10,000 for 50,000 to 250,000 followers and ₹26,176 above 250,000. One of those costs the same as six to twenty smaller creators, which is why most festive money now goes the other way.
What should a brand measure after Diwali?
Sales per creator, not views. Give every creator a separate link or code before they post, so on 15 November you know which six reels paid for themselves and which fifteen did not. The creators who sold are the ones to book again for the wedding season and for next Diwali, ideally before August 2027.
If you want to book Diwali creators this week, you can sign up as a brand on Qolab to search creators by city and follower count and see each one's rate before you book, with your payment held until the content is live.
