Every week I get the same question on Instagram and email: 'what exactly does Qolab do?' Fair question. The website tries to explain it. The dashboard tries to show it. But the cleanest answer is this post.
In one sentence: Qolab is a free tool where you register, see exactly what to charge brands, and become visible to the brands actively looking for creators like you. That's it. That's the whole product.
Why we built Qolab
Two things are broken in the Indian creator economy in 2026. Creators don't know what to charge, so they price off a guess and a screenshot of somebody else's rate card. Brands can't easily find the right creators, so they default to the same few hundred macro accounts everyone already books. In between sits the agency, charging the brand a service fee and marking up the creator's rate on top of it, and the creator rarely learns what the brand actually paid. If you want the long version of how rates get set, our guide to what to charge per reel in India walks through the maths.
We thought: what if there were a tool that fixed both sides? Creators see their real worth and become discoverable; brands find vetted creators at fair, transparent rates. No middleman cut. That's Qolab.
Step 1 · Register (30 seconds, free)
Go to qolab.in. Click 'Sign up as creator.' Enter your email, set a password, confirm via the email link. That's the entire account-creation flow. Free, no credit card asked. We don't even ask for your follower count, your category, or your city · all of that gets pulled automatically in the next step. There is a screen-by-screen version of this in our full guide to joining Qolab as a creator.
Step 2 · Connect Instagram (60 seconds, see your numbers)
This is the magic moment. You hit 'Connect Instagram' on your profile page, you're redirected to Instagram's own permission screen, you approve read-only access, and a minute later your dashboard fills with real data.
Here's what unlocks the moment Instagram is connected:
- Your Qolab Price across all four formats · reel, story, post, combo
- Your Qolab Score · a 0-to-100 reading of how authentic and brand-safe your audience is
- Your real-time engagement rate, reach, profile views, and audience demographics
- Your public profile at qolab.in/c/your-handle, auto-populated from your real Instagram data
Everything you see comes straight from Instagram. No screenshots, no manual entry, no padded follower counts. The numbers brands see when they look at you are the same numbers you see in your dashboard.
Step 3 · Become visible to brands
This is the step most creators don't realise is automatic. The moment your Qolab profile is set up, you're searchable by every brand and agency on the platform. They can filter for creators in your niche, your city, your follower band, your engagement floor, and your Qolab Score floor. When you match their search, your profile shows up. You don't have to pitch anyone.
Your public profile at qolab.in/c/your-handle becomes your media kit. It shows your trust signals (Qolab Score, engagement, audience), your best-performing posts and reels (auto-curated from your last sync), your audience demographics, and your story and post performance briefs. Brands can read everything they need in 90 seconds without ever DMing you for screenshots.
What you actually get (free, no upgrades)
Everything described above is free. Forever. No credit card, no usage caps, no premium upsells locked behind a paywall. Here's the full free-tier feature list:
- Your live Qolab Price across all four formats, recomputed daily
- Your Qolab Score with full per-signal breakdown so you know what to improve
- Public profile at qolab.in/c/your-handle, auto-populated and indexed by search engines
- Real-time analytics · followers, reach, engagement, audience demographics, posting heatmap
- Story performance brief · your last 10 and last 30 stories with min/avg/max numbers
- Best-performing posts and reels grid · auto-curated from your latest sync
- Brand inquiry inbox when brands message you through the platform
- Booking management with payment protection · the brand's money is held from the moment the deal is agreed and released after the content is live and verified
How does Qolab make money then? We charge a small platform fee to brands when they book through us. Creator pays nothing, ever. The fee covers the platform, the vetting, the payment protection, and the support team.
What brands see when they find you
When a brand searches Qolab for creators and your profile shows up, here's what they see (in order, top to bottom) on your public page:
- Your Qolab Score · the 0-100 trust number
- Your follower count, engagement rate, and discovery percentage (reach from new audiences)
- Your Qolab Price across all four formats · visible only to verified brands, locked to everyone else
- Your audience snapshot · top cities, age bands, gender split, languages
- Your performance briefs for posts, reels, and stories · min, avg, max for every key metric
- Your best-performing posts and reels, auto-selected from recent activity
- Your bio, categories, and a clean booking button
It's everything a brand needs to make a booking decision in 5 minutes. No DM chain, no 'please send screenshots,' no waiting three days for your media-kit PDF. Same numbers you see, served instantly to anyone vetting you.
Why this isn't another influencer marketplace
Three things make Qolab structurally different from the marketplaces that came before:
- Honest pricing · every creator sees their Qolab Price computed by a public formula. No more guessing, no more 'whatever the brand will pay.'
- Verified data, not screenshots · every number comes straight from Instagram. Brands trust the numbers because they can't be faked.
- No agency cut on the creator side · you get 100 percent of the agreed rate. We make money from the brand-side platform fee, not by skimming creator earnings.
You can leave the platform any time. Your data is your data. We're not a roof over your head; we're a tool that should make you more money. If it doesn't, you should leave.
What changed since this post went up
This post first went live in January 2026. Five things have changed since, and each one changes what you actually get.
- The marketplace filled out. As of 23 August 2026 Qolab carries 448 creator accounts, 176 of them with Instagram connected and live, and those 176 sit across 79 cities and 21 states. In January, a brand filtering for creators outside the metros mostly found nobody.
- Your Qolab Price is a starting number, not a locked floor. Until July 2026 neither side could go below the computed rate. That block is gone: you set your asking rate, a brand can counter, and you accept, counter back, or pass.
- You can switch negotiation off entirely. Mark your rate fixed and brands see accept-or-pass with no counter button. Worth doing if haggling costs you more time than the extra rupees are worth.
- Qolab releases the payout, never the brand. Once your content is live you submit the link, we check it, and we release the money. A brand cannot sit on a finished deal, which is the most common way creators get burned · we wrote about that pattern in why creators get ghosted by brands.
- Every deal now carries a per-creator tracked link. Your post gets its own short qolab.in/r/ link, so a brand can see the clicks your audience actually sent instead of judging you on follower count alone.
What Indian creators are actually charging on Qolab
Here is the part a rate-card blog cannot give you: numbers from real profiles rather than from a survey. These are the reel rates creators have set themselves on Qolab, read from the live marketplace on 23 August 2026. 174 of the 176 connected creators have a reel rate set. Median means half asked for less and half asked for more.
Two caveats worth saying plainly. We have six creators above 250K followers, far too thin a sample to publish a macro band, so we have not published one. And the spread inside each band is wide: in the 10K-50K band the middle half of creators sit anywhere between ₹1,150 and ₹12,763, because reach and engagement move the number far more than follower count does. Stories price lower than reels almost everywhere. On Qolab that gap starts as a suggestion: Qolab Price computes a story at 40 percent of the same creator's reel rate, and most creators keep that ratio rather than overriding it, so read the 40 percent as our starting math, not as an independent market survey.
Your own number is not a band. Connect Instagram and Qolab computes it from your reach, your engagement, and your category. If you want to see what a brand is looking at on the other side of that number, we broke it down in what brands see when they find you on Qolab.
